“ ” the well established successful strategy of Scarab Sweepers, became an award winning philosophy when Scarab Sweepers won the prestigious VEHICLES and PLANT AWARDS 2006 category for “DEVELOPMENTS IN NEW TECHNOLOGY – VEHICLES”.

The presentation was held during the evening of September 13th at the impressive National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, alongside The Recycling & Waste Management Exhibition at the NEC 12th-14th September.

Scarab Sweepers identified the need for sweepers to have simplified, reliable and compact control systems capable of engine management. As a result, it adopted the use of Controlled Area Network Bus System (CANbus) technology, now used by all major truck chassis producers. It could therefore harmonise with other CANbus systems in operation, to the great benefit of its customers.

CANbus uses printed circuit boards to eliminate the mass of wiring, relays and fuses previously needed and vastly reduces the size of operator panel needed.

The judges acknowledged the ability of CANbus to reduce downtime, and praised it for being “clear, simple and easy to use” while also attractive to the eye. “Certainly quite impressive,” said one judge, while another acknowledged the extra work it took for a specialist bodybuilder such as Scarab to introduce: “It sounds so simple but for a bodybuilder to adopt, it’s quite an achievement.”
