Sevenoaks District Council attended The Times awards for the “Best Councils to Work For 2007” Awards Ceremony in London and out of the hundreds of local authorities eligible, Sevenoaks came fifth overall, which was a fantastic performance.

However, in addition to the above, Sevenoaks District Council was also judged to be the Best Council in the country in the category of contribution to the Environment & Community.

It comes as no surprise that Steve Allard, Transport Manager has been keen to evaluate vehicle emissions across the whole of Sevenoaks fleet of vehicles.

The introduction of fuel additives to diesel used throughout the Councils fleet has seen already savings of over 45,000 litres per annum and significant reductions in carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.

From the Sundridge Depot, Sevenoaks operate a number of Scarab sweepers, -  5 Scarab Minor Compact Urban/Precinct sweepers, 2 new Scarab Merlin XP hydrostatic truck mounted sweepers on DAF LF 45 7.5 tonne GVW chassis, 2 larger Scarab Magnum hydrostatics on Mercedes Benz Atego chassis alongside a Scarab Major 7000 and Scarab Major 3000 all on call to cover over 150 square miles of Sevenoaks sweeping responsibilities.
