Two recently supplied Scarab Minor Hydrostatic compact Urban/precinct sweepers and a Scarab Mistral heavy duty truck mounted road sweeper mounted on an Iveco 15 tonne GVW chassis.

After thirty five years with Maidstone Borough Council, Paul Seager admitted with enthusiasm that the latest truck mounted sweeper from Scarab was indeed ‘the best sweeper I’ve ever driven, with awesome suction’. It was some accolade as it was Maidstone Borough’s first Scarab truck mounted sweeper, Paul having driven other manufacturers’ models for many years.

In service alongside the Scarab Mistral are the well proven Scarab Minors’ the responsibility of drivers Steve McKenzie and Richard Dean. Both drivers endorsed the Scarabs versatility and performance, highlighting the Scarab Minors ability to sweep under the most difficult conditions anywhere in the Borough.

Street Scene Officer, George Gray, remembered the first Scarab Minor going into service back in the 1980’s and endorsed the Minors outstanding reliability. MBC are now on their ‘third generation’  of Scarab Minors. ‘There has been no reason to change the sweep pattern and general all round unique features of the Minor, it’s perfect for all our operations. The improvements have been with the engines and the latest Euro 4 with CANbus has really got to be the best yet’. Who’s to argue with George having been with Maidstone Borough Council for over thirty years!!
